The proportion of published papers and health research in India continues to be small compared to Western countries. However, the scope for health care research is huge in India considering the burden of communicable and non communicable diseases in our country. We believe that this small step of starting our research foundation will be a giant leap for clinical research in India for decades to come. This is important as we need data and strategies for improving patient outcomes in our population, which may be hugely different compared to other populations.
