Dr. Prashant Vaijyanath
Dr. Prashant Vaijyanath, Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, is a Gold Medalist from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGI, Chandigarh) for his MS (Surgery) in 1993 and M.Ch. CTVS with honors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. Dr. Prashant has a total of 21 years rich experience in cardiac surgery (1993-2014) and has successfully performed more than 9000 open heart surgeries. His special interests include Heart & Lung Transplantation, Aortic Aneurysm & Valve Sparing Surgery, Off Pump Total Arterializations with Composite & Non Composite Arterial Grafts, MIDCABG, Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, Valve Repairs, CABG & Valve Replacements, Use of Homografts, Ross Operation, Redo Procedures, Endovascular Program & Transcatheter Valve Therapy.
He has performed his first Transcatheter – Transapical AVR in India on 24 April 2010. He has numerous peer reviewed international publications including NEJM to his credit. He has been a member of various research and development committees as well as an examiner for higher degrees like DNBE-CTVS. He is keen to advance research in identifying novel cardiac risk scores in Indian patients and development of cost effective but novel state of the art heart valves and left ventricular assist devices that would benefit all patients.
