Dr.Thomas Alexander, Consultant & Interventional Cardiologist, Kovai Medical Center & Hospital, did his undergraduate, postgraduate and superspeciality training from the Christian Medical College, Vellore. He then worked as a Consultant at Vellore. From 1991 to 1993 he did a three-year fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Epworth Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. Dr Alexander has extensive experience as the principal investigator of numerous clinical trials involving the coronary stent system, coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndrome with diabetes mellitus, pulmonary artery hypertension, atrial fibrillation and decompensated heart failure.

He has published over 30 papers in various National and International journals including the Heart, International Journal of Cardiology, British Medical Journal and Paediatric Cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Indian College of Cardiology and the Cardiological Society of India. He has active research interests and he is the Director for STEMI INDIA, a not for profit organization that is developing STEMI systems of care in India.
